Hi, new to this forum. I have windows xp professional and went to do windows update and got the following error message: You Receive a VAIFY 0x80072efe Error Message During SharePoint Portal Server Setup -
To work around this problem, remove the host header from the default Web site:
    Start Internet Services Manager:
Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Administrative Tools.
    Click Internet Services Manager.
Right-click the Web site that you want to configure (for example, click Default Web Site), and then click Properties.
Click the Web Site tab, and then click the Internet Protocol (IP) address that you want the site to use.

NOTE: If you only have one IP address on the server, click All Unassigned, and then set the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) port that you want to use (typically 80).
    Click Advanced.
In the Multiple identities for this Web Site list, click the identity that you want to use.
Click Edit, and then remove the host header name.
Apply these changes, and then start the Web site if it is not already running.
Run SharePoint Portal Server Setup again and select Repair mode.

Ok now have gone to start>All Programs and find no mention of Administrative Tools or Internet Services Manager, sooooo did a search for Internet Services Manager which directed me to this forum.

Why is everything so complicated on computers? Nah dont answer that just my wish that everything could be straight forward. Anyway hope you can help me on this, I really appreciate your time, thanks!

Right click the Start Menu tab, then left click the properties button.
The Customize Start Menu dialog box opens. Click on the Customize button.
Click the Advanced tab, then scroll to the bottom of the Start Menu items list and click the radio button next System Administrative Tools > Display on the All Programs menu and Start menu.
    Click OK twice.
Click Start > All Programs > Administrative tools to access these tools

Hi! Thanks for your reply. As per your instructions, I can now see Administrative Tools in the All Programs but there is no Internet Services Manager. There is only Component Services>Computer Management>Data Sources>Event Viewer>Local Security Policy>Performance>Services. Sheesk!

Go to Start then Run and enter in this command.
    regsvr32 %windir%\system32\inetsrv\inetmgr.dll
This should put Internet Service Manager into Administrative Tools.

Mmm, makes me wonder if you have Microsoft Internet Server installed. Internet Services Manager is a part of it.
    Do you have this folder?
    C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv
