    Windows XP o.s

I opened my network connection where next to the box, which has for its icon 2 computers connected to a mobile phone and says BTOW (the name of my isp) disconnected intel (R) 536ep modem, there was another box.
This other (2nd) box was divided into 2 parts its icon in each part was just 2 computers. (As far as can I remember) The top part said dialup connection; the bottom part said Lan or high speed connection.
Well, I accidently deleted this box. So I attempted a system restore, unfortunately someone switched the PC off before the restore was completed.
When I switched the PC back on I was informed that the restore was not completed. In addition a box appeared which says: MESSAGE
    can't listen on port 6515!
make sure the tcp/ip transport is set up correctly and that no other applications are already.

So now when I try to choose the date I wanted to restore to (13th APRIL) or any date before that the dates will not activate. System restore will only activate on the 14th April onwards but thats no good to me. And I am unable to connect to the internet.

If I click on the 1st box it attempts to dial up and says opening port, but obviously nothing happens and the pc does not connect to the internet

In addition, when I switch the pc on 3 other messages appear which read as follows:

    RUNDLL
    error loading c:\windows\system32\NvMcTRAY.DLL

    RUNDLL
    error loading c:\windows\system32\NvCpl.dll

    RUNDLL
    error loading c:\windows\system32\NvMcNVMCTRAY.DLL

Thanks for reading this and if you can help please make your instructions very clear. Thanks

Start>run and type sfc /scannow. Have your XP cd handy.

thanks for replying but before I do this, is there any risk existing files or programmes could be deleted when I run the XP cd?

    Thanks

sfc checks for and replaces system files that are corrupt, missing, or otherwise altered from the original installation and should have no effect on program files, personal documents, pics, etc. You can see what files have been replaced after running sfc in the event viewer. Right click My Computer, select manage.
