after logging onto my dial-up ISP, explorer closes with the following error message:

"IEXPLORE has caused an error in <unknown>.
    IEXPLORE will now close.

    If you continue experiencing problems,
    try restarting your computer. "

I get the same problem when I try to run IE offline, as well.

The Internet Explorer Repair Tool isn't available through Accessibility-System Information, and the computer will not carry out a System Restore according to any previous System CheckPoint.

This problem arose a few days after having to "upgrade" from Prodigy to SBC Yahoo dial-up service. Also, my girlfriend attempted to load AOL (big mistake) - explorer pretty much died after that. how can I get explorer up and running again?

The Help file states that you should go to the Add/Remove in Control Panel and click on the Remove button when Repair/Uninstall options for Internet Explorer should become available.

However, I do not have Internet Explorer showing in Add/Remove on my Win XP Pro (FAT32) system.

IE6 is widely available on Magazine cover disks and you may use that to repair/reinstall it since it can be a big dwnload from MS.
