Internet Explorer Problems (Information Bar)

Hey everyone,

This site is great and I think it is awesome how everyone is so helpful...I was hoping that you all could help me solve my IE problem. When I load up IE, I get that "information bar" pop up that says " Your security settings do not allow Websites to use Active X controls installed on your computer... "

I tried messing with the security settings to fix this but to no avail. I sometimes can't download content when I see stuff on the browser, etc.

If you all could help me fix this, I would appreciate it.

Have you tried clicking the pop-up bar?

 

Soccerguy--The Information Bar (IB) message is telling you the page would like to run some ActiveX content. If you can see the page and it looks OK, just ignore the IB or click the X to get rid of it. You really do not need the ActiveX controls in such a case.
However, some pages will not look OK or will not even open properly. I suspect that clicking on the IB will only produce a little box saying Information Bar Help. Clicking on that will not give you much "help ". (On the other hand, clicking on the IB may give you options to run ActiveX, but my experience is that, even though this is the way the IB is supposed to operate, it does not.)
If I am correct about the latter, you will have to change the setting IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tab|Custom Level| "Run ActiveX controls and plugins" to Prompt or Enable.

If the above does not solve that issue, please post back with some more detail. Like what "content" you are trying to download.
And what versions of Windows and IE are you running?
