I installed new RAM and everything works fine except for IE that freezes when I try to run it. Currently running Windows XP. How do I recover IE?

fmabley - Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

    Which version of IE - 6, 7 or 8?

    From a PM - version is 7.

On the basis that IE worked before upgrading/replacing your RAM if you remove the RAM and reinstate the old does IE then run without freezing? Your new RAM may not be compatible with your system.

    Other avenues to pursue .....

Disable all Add-ons - Tools > Internet Options > Manage Add-ons and disable them all. If this resolves the problem then re-enable one by one until the culprit is found.

As a quickie - Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools - Internet Explorer (no add-ons) or right click the Desktop icon > Start without Add-ons.

Another approach Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Reset Internet Options can also be accessed via Control Panel.

I have gone back to orig RAM and it now does not work. I reloaded V7 or IE. I am running with NO add ons. Still IE hangs and won't open.

Try reregistering the IE core library files - IEFix should do it for you.

I tried and found IEFix does not support IE7 yet.

I suggest you roll back to IE6 and try again.
