When I click on IE on desktop icon, says this page can't be displayed. Can't find it in start menu "all programs" or control panel. It is still in the system somewhere. It is still acting as search engine and is shown as home page in Internet Options. I have done a search for it and when I clicked on IE. says page cannot be opened. Any advice on how to find it and put it back in Start menu?

Click on your start menu, and type Internet Explorer in the search box. Look at the top of the search results, and right-click on Internet Explorer (A context menu will appear). Look for Pin to Start Menu, and left-click on that selection.

Internet Explorer should now appear on your start menu.

As for as the This Page Cannot be Displayed message, it sounds like it may be your internet connection.

Can you open your modem page to see if you are connected? I'm not a networking expert, but you could try typing 92.168.1.254 in your address bar and see what the results are. If your modem page appears, it should tell you if your internet connection is up or down.

yes I do. I found a place today to connect a specific website to the internet. I tried that and it would not connect. Windows Network Diagnosis says "the remote device or resource wont accept the connection." every other site I have tried works flawlessly.

James, is that Router/Modem address correct?
I type in 192.168.1.1 to bring up the Router setup. Neil.

It's the correct address for a number of modems (including mine), but maybe not for all. It was just a shot in the dark at the time. Actually, I have to type in http://192.168.1.254 to bring my modem page up, but it used to popup by just typing 192.168.1.254 on previous models.

According to some Arris documentation I recently found, Johnny's modem address should be http://192.168.0.1/.

So, Internet Explorer didn't "disappear ", you have trouble connecting to a specific site on the Internet

    Mind telling us the URL?

Windows is already telling you the reason:
