I am unable to have internet explorer open any websites. I get an error message that: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

    What you can try:
    Diagnose Connection Problems

    More information

When the system diagnoses the problem, it states that it could not find any issues. I know the connection is fine since AOL works.

Any ideas why IE won't work?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

What is the history behind the pc - problem with IE?
    Did it work recently?
Did you make ANY type of change to the pc prior to the problem starting?

    Other questions:

    Which version of IE?
Which OS & Service Pack version?

It is a newer PC purchased 6 months ago. I actually never use IE7to access the internet-I used AOL. It is a Dell Desktop with the Vista Home Premium Pack 1. The reason I found the issue is that I am using H&R Block tax software to electronically file a tax return. It is deaulting to the IE7 web browser to access the filing site. I used the same tax software last year and it had not problems-that was before Vista though.

In IE - Tools->Options->Connection tab->Lan Settings button -> uncheck anything you see. If you find something...Uncheck it - close and then Reopen IE.

Try an IE reset: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab and click the Reset button under Restore Internet Explorer settings.
