Having problems outlined below. Have tried everything I can think of without success. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Currently running Windows XP. Recently downloaded and installed updates, including Internet Explorer 7.0. As a result of this installation, a number of things happened:

    1. My e-mail provider automatically changed to Microsoft Office Outlook vice Outlook Express.
    a. Attempted to change the default by going into tools, options, default messaging programs and making Outlook Express the default mail handler. I hit apply, wait and then hit OK. When I go back into tools and look, it is once again “NOT the default mail handler”
    b. Went into Internet Explorer, tools, internet options, options and attempted to change the e-mail program to Outlook Express. The listed choices are: MS Office Outlook and Windows Live Mail. Outlook Express is not listed, nor can you enter it.

    2. When clicking on a web site url contained in an e-mail, nothing happens. Before updating, I would click on the url and IE would open to the selected web site.

    3. Prior to update, I sent a monthly newsletter to 60+ club members, using a “Group e-mail”. Everyone got the e-mail with attachments. After updating, certain members receive the e-mail and others do not. Have sent test after test and there appears to be no rhyme or reason for the selection of who receives and who does not.

    4. Prior to update, I would see an e-mail address on a web site, click on it and proceed to send a message. After the update, when I click on an e-mail address, a box appears that says I have not set up a profile. Then, 57 windows open, forcing me to close a few, then click on the lower tool bar and close group.

Sure appreciate any input from the people on this board who know what the fix for these items would be. Thanks in advance.

This whole experience brings to the fore, the message, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
Never again will I update anything from Microsoft. This is the second time and both times I have had nothing but problems. Of course, the only reason for updating was security.
