Every time I use IE5 to open up a folder in My Documents, ie. a jpeg, it opens it up in a non-maximized window; minor irritation but I have to then maximize. Once I've done that with THAT particular file IE5 will continue to open up THAT folder maximized; if I go to open up another file jpg it will do so in non-maximized window.
Where is the setting to correct this.

Many times dragging the window to the size you want will fix the problem. Or,

    Reset New Browser Window Size

Sometimes Internet Explorer 5 "decides" to remember the wrong size for a new window. Whatever you do, you can't seem to get it to remember a normal size.

    You can fix this:

1.Close all instances of Internet Explorer
    2.Start the Registry Editor
    3.Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Main
    4.Delete the value Window_Placement
    5.Exit the Registry Editor

    Or download:
    Autosizer: http://www.firase.com/

Tried this...didn't work. It will remember a particular file that's been maximized but then it will open a new one in non=maximized window; perhaps this is the normal function for IE5?

    dean,

I had the very same problem and the registry hack didn't work for me either. I tried "Autosizer" for a while, too. It worked as advertised but it was causing my screen to flicker occasionally so I dumped it.

The only thing that worked for me was positioning and stretching everything as it came up. Eventually you will get everything "maximized ". It just takes a little time. :)
