    Hi domain01
Take a look at your "hosts file" and see if there is a reference to the page there? The Hosts file does not have any extention there is another hosts file that has an extension - not that one.

If there is a reference try deleting it as it may be corrupted.

Then try ang go to the site again. If that's the problem then the page will open normally.

    Same problem a while back

When I installed IE5.5 sp2, I had the same problems in that It would not let me get to many sites. I wish I would have asked the question and seen this response at that time. My solution was to uninstall sp2, which brought me back to IE4.0, then reinstall 5.5 sp1, which worked just fine. Why would the installation of sp2 corrupt the host file?

    Under C:\Windows
    Not the hosts.sam one
Make sure you got to details view to see the difference.
Sinply go to Start.....search.....for files or folders......
Under the search for files or folders....type in hosts
Make sure the Look In: is pointed to your hard drive
Once it's found......go up to view....then details...so you can tell which hosts file you're after.

    Again:
Look for a file called HOSTS (and only HOSTS, not HOSTS.SAM) in your C:\Windows directory. If it exists, rename it to something else (eg HOSTS.OLD) and try again.

Daizy, thanks for the lead. When I looked for Host files I found two. As near as I can tell one was put there by Norton for e-mail protection and the other is a Word pro document that tells what a Host file would look like. ( there wasn't a Host.sam file) Is my problem different from those described in this thread since I seem to get to the site, then again maybe I'm not really getting there and I just don't know it.
