Is Microsoft going to follow a fast release schedule with Internet Explorer to keep up with Firefox and Chrome?

    Quote from website comment section...

IE11 is good but if you are logging into Government WWW sites, do not use!

At this time almost no Government agencies are IE11 compatible. They aren't even IE10 compatible. Most sites are IE9 only or FireFox.

    So user beware!

EDIT: For what it's worth, I've been clicking around at usa.gov with IE10, and I've had no problems to speak of yet.

May well dump it until Yahoo sort themselves out .....

Home page displays as it should (http://uk.yahoo.com/), but clicking on any link on that page shows garbaged headers. The Preview behaved the same.

Same on 7 & 8.1 - other web sites OK, so far :)

IE 11 is now available - for Windows 7 - via Windows Update.

Can't decide if I want it or not even though I prefer Firefox for my browsing needs.

    No problems here either.

I even clicked around at USA.gov and Yahoo with no problems.

Still stayin' with Firefox though.

Never really used any other browser but IE. Is Firefox tricky to learn. I read a great many members use Firefox. I'm starting to get curious. There must be something to it.

    lj50,

I use IE10, Firefox 24.0, and Google Chrome 30.0 alternately. I try to use a different one each day and set it as default at the beginning of the day. In the retirement community where I live, I help a lot of folks with their computers and I like to keep up to speed on the major ones. I also have Opera and Safari on my W7 machine but seldom use them. In fact, I don't think you can access this website using Opera.

Each one had a different learning curve but to me they are all very similar - you just have to learn each one's nuances. At one time, I had problems with Firefox at checkout when ordering on line but I just switched over to IE to finish the transaction. When I access my credit card site with Firefox, the organization of the pages is a bit confusing - but I manage.

My biggest draw to Firefox is speed and Firefox's built-in ability to block unwanted images from intrusive flashy ads, etc.

It is a simple light-weight browser that works well for me including shopping, online banking, etc. I rarely have a web page rendering issue.

You can also block flash ads with the appropriate add-on.

Thanks Virginia and James for that info. Getting a little busy for the upcoming holidays. Everyone wants something done to their computers. So I'll have to try it out after the rush. I should really take a typing course. I make a ton of errors. That's why it takes me so long to post.

Download AdBlock for IE and you don't have the stuff. Just like in FF. My IE is faster than FF is and always has been.

I'll have to try that (plugin), MrBill, but I've yet to see IE outdo Firefox on my machine. Course, I also have a Firefox plugin installed called Fasterfox. Maybe that gives Firefox a speed edge.

LJ, it always pays to have more than one browser installed (in my opinion). If you ever have problems with one, you can always use the other for a backup until things get resolved.

Well, downloaded IE 11 for Win 7 last night and now my Weather Widget color is ******* up. It is a weird color purple and doesn't show the Sun or the Moon.

Also when on a web page, you could highlight something and then a Blue square with an arrow in it would come up and you could right click and choose 3 different thing to search with it. Bing, Google and one other (which I don't remember). I would then left click on Google and it would open a Google page like I did a search for what was highlighted on Google. Now the box and the arrow are about 2 inches below the highlighted portion and when you click on it, it just disappears and doesn't open the Google window.

Hmmm...I'm not seeing the blue arrow at all, but if I right-click on highlighted text I can see the search options.

No, wait a minute...Sometimes I can see the blue arrow, but not always. I guess it depends on what web page one is looking at, but that doesn't make sense to me. Looks like the search arrow would work on all posted text.

After some more Google searches, I found a couple of different post about how it messes up the colors in the Desktop gadgets. One person said that he changed the Zoom level to under 110% and it fixed it. Didn't on mine. Don't know what that would have to do with it. Majority didn't worry about it or went back to 10.
