    Hello,

Internet stops working after around 1h under windows XP SP2. Few times ago it was every 40 minutes when my provider limited the downloading rate. Now it seems to stop working at least after 1h but it is not always the same times or I am not sure. It seems to stop working when I use a high rate for a while but still not sure.
To have internet again I have to reboot.

The local network is still ok but no internet. It works well and without any problem under Linux. I had the same kind of problem at the beginning with an other provider because my phone line wasn't plug to the good place. So I was always disconnected and Internet was slow. But now it worked fine at the beginning and under Linux or for a while with Linux so I don't think it is this.

It seems that windows when there is a too long ping or something like this it loose the connection.

Any idea what's wrong? Why it works unde Linux and not Windows?

    Internet Logs off

Since the internet or lan connection does not seem to log off in Linux it does not seem to be a hardware bios or route setting.
Check your windows power savings settings
right click on an open area of your screen > display properties > screen saver

turn off both the screen saver and the power saving features
You might want to update your driver for your network card
If you are using a internal motherboard network card try a pci card
Check that on the properties of the network card the power saving feature is not turned on - it is something like " turn off device to save power" or something like that
If it a usb network card - usb devices seem to have this turned on by default.
    Anyways this is a start
