Depends on who you talk to.

Depends on what you want it to do.

May depend somewhat on the type of sites you visit.

Some are better in some places and some are better in others.

In my opinion, don't even consider AOL.

The "best" browser is largely a matter of personal preference. Depends on the features you like. I personally use Opera mostly, and Mozilla for certain encrypted sites. I don't think you'll get much argument that the "worst" browser is IE!

No Netscape is the worst. It crashed all the time on me and had a very clunky interface the few times I tried it. I tried Opera, but hated its all-in-one interface and it crashed on me too. I've never tried Mozilla. I use Internet Explorer and have had very few problems with it.

I've been usiong Opera for about a year and a half and haven't looked back.

It's really fast, configurable and secure.

Right now i use IE and Opera, the reason i still use IE is because Opera, sometimes, when i open up a page or click on a link, it opens the new page but until i hit the stop button the rest of the page won't appear.

does anyone else have this problem??

    Hi odlink.

    What Version/Build are you running?

You can look at the bottom of the browser and it will tell you what it's trying to connect to. That sometimes happens to me too, but it could be from somebody's sig they're hotlinking from. It could also be that the site is trying to route you to a third party server.
Something I ommitted before is that it could also be that the page isn't cachable by Opera as it is in IE so it will hang.

Check to make sure you have these settings:

    File>Preferences>Network:

Make sure Synchronous DNS is ticked and set the size of Network buffer to 32KB.

That won't help the problem you decribed much, but it will help Opera run better and faster overall.

    Hi.

The 'Netscape' browsers i.e. from 'Netscape 6' , are a new line of browsers.
The Netsape Communicator line are excellent.
I've used many versions of them & the older standalone Netscapes.

I too tried the new Netscape6 when it came out & it crashed and was buggy.
After which I stopped using it.
(they say the newer versions have greatly improved since.-I've not tried them though.)

-Am using Mozilla since,....& I personally think its fantastic.
-Everybody has their own tastes & preferences.
-having said that ,I give my opinion of Mozilla.

-Its not crashed even once with me, yet.
& crashes apart, it has great features and
what, to me is a sensible way of going about things.
If you do try it out, d/load the 'Stable' version.
the d/load size is, I think. a fraction of the size of comparable browsers.

-It is, very configurable & incorparates 'Tabbed Browsing'[to which I'm
pretty hooked to :) ,presently. ]

Good keyboard support and other features like
Pop-up blocking etc.,... has got me stuck on it.

Actually, I was referring to the Communicator line. After all the trouble I had using it, I wouldn't dream of trying 6.x.

Those are the key words to the whole thing.

I just came across another browser but one I've never heard of so I can't speak personally about it. Someone might have some experience with it and can comment.

    Crazy, eh?

Pheonix is another browser to watch out for. It's made by Mozilla and is in the infacy stages right now, but it's very clean, fast and has just the basics so it's not bloated.

Of course, Opera is still the best :D but this one looks pretty good so far.

It doesn't install on your hd so if you don't like it you can just delete the Pheonix folder.

I'm at work on a slow pc so can't give a link, but you can take a look at it at Mozilla.org

I've tried crazybrowser. It uses the same engine as IE but IE plugins won't work with it. It wasn't as fast as IE or as configurable. :)
