I can download movies and such using a different program, kinda like a bit torrent or emule.

but if i use my internet explorer i cant go to other pages, my home page pops up as Google just fine, but i cant do a search or switch to a different website.

I'm not able to run Combo fix on the computer, but ive run ad aware and it still has the problem. also on the task manager it lists sever Iexplorer.exe tasks but they don't take up any CPU.

aby ideas on what could be the problem?

I might expect it to be a firewall problem. Do you use Windows Firewall? Do you have any other firewalls installed? You should only run one.

Check the firewall is not set to "block" and standard programs are not blocked.

I think you might find the Google page is "cached" and is running from stored webpages. You can try pinging www.google.com or your ISP's server (Start -> Search bar -> enter CMD -> cmd.exe -> type and enter "ping www.google.com ".
