When I dial into my ISP (AOL8.0), the internal speaker starts making its famous squeaking noises. Its very noisy in an small office.

I've already muted the option in the modem properties section and it still makes the noise.
How can I turn this speaker off WITHOUT opening the Pc case and removing the speaker wire that is attached to the motherboard.

Is there something in AOL that I can turn off to stop the noise.
    Need help.. thanks...

    Hi w.young

I dont have Aol , But my isp does use that dialup adapter

Sounds like you've done this already: control panel modem
[prorerties] button move slider to less or none,, I dont understand you say mute, mine has no mute there.

or double click speaker icon in system tray find pc speaker and mute it,, that would'nt do anything on our system.

if no luck post more info OS?

    Good luck
    Lonny
