I have a Windows Pc and when I'm on the internet surfing / reading websites.
    I get the following message:

"Internet Explorer has encounterned a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience. Please tel Microsoft about this problem "

Then it gives a 'send report' 'don't send report' buttons.

Any idea on how to fix this?
    Thanks.
    Bill

Hi Bill, I use IE5.5, you probably have IE6 but what I find when I get that error message is the a "repair" of IE usually helps. After you do a repair go to Windows Update site and check for any updates, fixes, as sometimes the repair will undo already installed updates.

    w. young--You have not told us what version of Windows or IE you are using.
The error message you are getting is a standard MS message which means just what it says. Some error has occurred and IE will shut down.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q276550/
Sometimes there is a link on either the error message page or the page when you send the error report (like "Click Here ") that may allow you to learn what the error is so you can perhaps avoid it in the future.
However that info is pretty hard to understand (at least for me) though you can post it here for comment.
If you run WinXP, you have Event Viewer, which provides much more info on an error and also has a link (I think it is go.microsoft.com or something like that) which might lead to an understandable explanation. You reach Event Viewer from Control Panel|Adminstrative Tools|Event Viewer|doubleclick System and look for red error balls dated at the time the error occurred. Doubleclick on the ball and you will have several options to get more info.
