I've searched this forumn and haven't found a hit so I'll make mention of it..

I installed FF 1.0 today and visited another forum and all of a sudden in the threads different words were showing up as hyperlinks to "sponsored" pages...

It's coming in as javascript and seems to be turned on by host web page..

I don't like it.. adaware pe and spybot didn't find anything... I originally disabled java script but didn't like that.. did find an extension for FF, Adblock, and installed that ... turned JS back on and works fine..

I first reported it in this thread...

As you clearly show yourself here, it is advertising added by the owner of the content. Not spyware or anything.

Yes, it's direct advertising , which I don't like, which is why we run all the various software to prevent targeted advertising.... I'm happy with my resolution, FF and adblock, though it is manual intervention, but only has to be done once for each web page you frequent more than once..

I realize nothing is free for the forum sponsers and they may need as much or more revenue to run the forums.. when I'm in the market for a specific item I visit the forum sponsers to see if they have what meets my needs and I believe that's all the sponsers ask when they support a forum.

I assume you mean the advertising you see on this BBS?

Here is the answer to that. There is no such thing as a free lunch as my Dad used to say. ;)
