XP-Home Edition Ser. Pak 3. I have just done a reinstall, due to problems with my Intellimouse PS-2 connected optical mouse not loading at start-up, and other problems. Everything has been working fine but today, when I booted, the Intellimouse was dead, with no movement of the cursor and no red light on under the mouse. I had to turn-off the power and then reboot. The drivers loaded are 4.10.851.0, dated 11/04/2002. The Microsoft download site lists a 6.30.191.0 as the latest update driver for this product.

Should I update the drivers, or is something else amiss? No further problem in the last three start-ups. TIA

    Dennis

I doubt it is a driver problem, but there is no harm in updating.

My first thought would be a problem with the mouse - try another one and my second thought a problem with the PS/2 port - try a USB mouse.
