integer or boolean

Hello,
This pertains to about config.
At one site http://svartling.hopto.org/index.php?q=node/377 it says to classify nglayout.intialpaint.delay as a integer

While at another site http://users-guide.org/index.php?c=text&id=40 it says to classify nglayout.intialpaint.delay as boolean

Anyone have any thoughts.

Tom,

I would go with Integer, as that is what is recommend by Mozilla.

Here's a rule of thumb when adding unlisted preferences in about:config:

Select "String" if the value is textual
Select "Integer" if the value is numerical
Select "Boolean" if the value is true or false.

Hi Tom,

I think you may have misread what it says, as the site mentions at least 13 different settings, some integer, some boolean. As I see it, the illustration merely demonstrates how to create a new setting ... it's not referring specifically to nglayout.intialpaint.delay.

I just discovered that double-clicking a string or integer setting opens a requester, while double-clicking a boolean (true-false) setting changes it from one to the other.

BTW, I've had mixed results from pipelining FF on a high-speed cable connection. Based on tests at nyc.speakeasy.net pipelining seems to slow things down more than it speeds them up.

Hi JSS,
I appreciate your feedback.I just used nglayout.intialpaint.delay as a example.That one site is very misleading with the picture and the word boolean.I am new to computers and it gets diffiicult at times.Every time I turn around there's something different.
