Hi and welcome top WindowsBBS forums.

There is a special fix for this infection, please do as instructed below.

Please follow these instructions exactly as shown in order to achieve the best results:

    1. Please download Brute Force Uninstaller to your desktop.
    • Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
    • Click "Next "
    • In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
    • Click "Browse "
    • Click on the + sign next to "My Computer "
    • Click on "Local Disk (C: ) or whatever your primary drive is
    • Click "Make New Folder "
    • Type in BFU
    • Click "Next ", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish ".
    2. RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As ") in order to download EGDACCESS Remover.
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

    3. Restart your computer in Safe Mode

    4. Open My Computer and navigate to the c:\BFU folder.
    • Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
    • Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon [IMG] and select EGDACCESS.bfu
    • Press Execute and let the program do it’s job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
    • Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
    • Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

    5. Reboot back to normal mode and post:
    • The content of the file C:\egd.txt that was created by the script.
    • The content of the folder bfubackups in your System(32) folder. This folder was also created by the script.
    • A new HijackThis log

  3. to hide this advert.

OK, here is the second part of the fix:

Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as aftermath.bfu
Save it to the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).
    Set Filetype to "All files"

    RegDeleteKey HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\uncspokrzl
    RegDelValue HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run|uncspokrzl
    FileDelete %SYSDIR%\uncspokrzl_navps.dat
    FileDelete %SYSDIR%\uncspokrzl_nav.dat

OK I'll be doing some more reading about this infection, the fix is evolving and once I've looked a bit, I'll return ASAP.

OK, we need to find a hidden file, lets run the following tool to uncover it.

    Please download SilentRunners from here

Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop.

Please post the entire contents of this logfile created back into this thread for me to see.

Looks like we have either two infections or remnants from another one, SmithFraud, so lets run the first part of the SmithFraud Fix and see what it turns up.

    Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter "; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool "; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore you may get an alert.

Very well, please be sure and install some protection and get all your critical updates from MS.

To further prevent the installation of ad/mal/spyware, DL the apps below, which are just as good the fight against ad/mal/spyware as AdAware & Spybot S&D:

    SpywareBlaster
With SpywareBlaster v3.5.1 , just DL, install and check for updates, enable Internet Explorer protection, and your done! I don't recommend using IE restricted sites protection as it's not a very large database. Use IE-SPYADs below.

To avoid known malware infested sites from loading in IE install IESPY ADS.
And MVPS Hosts File will accomplish a similar tactic and provide another layer of protection.

And to prevent unknown applications from being inserted to start up on your machine install WinPatrol v10.0.1.

Another thing I would suggest, is to install SiteAdvisor. It gives sites a few different 'ratings' and while not fool proof, a good additional layer of information about many sites.

Links for tutorials for all the apps I mentioned can be found on my site as well.

Confused about which apps are good or not? Read about Rogue/Approved Anti Security apps

And just because you have security apps installed, they are useless unless updated regularly. Keep track of updates for ALL your security needs here:
    Calendar of Updates

Subscribe to update alerts for all the above security apps here.

You can also see my own ongoing security testing with all the above apps proving how securely you can safe with them installed.
