    I need advice plz.

I've tried to install a piece of software from cd, whilst installing the pc restarted (don't know why?) whilst trying to reinstall I get the error message 1628:Failed to complete installation.

I have all the xp home updates installed, I've tried many many searches on the web for solutions but no luck.

    I have installer version 2.

All cleaners & updates I have found for windows installer are not for the xp range.

I believe that somewhere on my machine are files (from the failed installation of the software) causeing my woes.

Is there ne way of finding & deleting these files.

    TIA

    Elvardo

D you have a System Restore point prior to the failed install? Was the software you were trying to install called "Roxio" or "Adaptec ", by chance?
