    Hi everybody,
I just got a new IBM Deskstar 60.0GB I was going to install windows XP on it and i'm halfway through the install and i have decided to make it a dual boot system with linux. How can I clear off the part of XP that is already installed and resize the partitions. I've tried put fdisk on a floppy but it says no disk error. I basically want a totally clean HD. Sorry for the long post.

    thanks everyone

The easiest way to do it is go through the XP install process again and delete all the partitions. Then create a dos partition of like 2 gig and let it format it as fat 16. This is necessary in order to commit the changes. After its done formating, it starts copying files but after its done, place your boot disk back in the drive and then run fdisk. You shouldn't have a problem any more. :)
