Installing Windows2000 AS on a 250Gig Hard Disk

I am trying to install Win2K on a 250Gig HDD. The BIOS on the system automatically detected the 250Gig Hard Drive. However when I start to install Win2K, the OS only detects a 131Gig HDD.
What can I do to make the installation detect the entire 250G HDD?

Win2000 up to service pack 2 has a limitation where it cannot use more than 137 gigs of hard drive. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;305098

You have three options:
Slipstream a later service pack onto your 2k CD so you can do an install using the full size of the hard drive. (easy to use tool and instructions at the bottom of this page http://www.ubcd4win.com/howto.htm this mentions XP but it’s the same for 2k)

Install 2k to the drive on a partition of the size you are allowed, then fix the limitation by either installing service pack3 or higher or with this tool http://www.48bitlba.com/enablebiglbatool.htm
then resize the partition to use the whole of the drive.

Or install 2k and fix the limitation and partition the rest of the hard drive as data partition/s.

 

It worked

After I rebooted, I was able to see the entire disk.
So now I have a 30Gig Boot partition and 217Gig Data partition.
