    Hi,

I have windows 98 SE installed and i bought windows XP home edition upgrade. I tried several times to install it. At the time setup restarts the computer before it had installled win xp. I get a black screen sometimes with a flashing cursor.

I tried to run setup by setting my bios to boot from cd even this didn't work .

here some specifications about my computer

    AMD Athlon 1200 mhz
    256 MB RAM
    256 mb geforce video card
    Creative soundblaster live

I runned some test and they all say that my computer is compatible even the bios is.

I selected all the parts of my computer and i read in one of the comments that this could be a problem since i am running an upgrade and not a full version. But i just want to make sure since my problem is a litle different than the problem of the other person.

    Can anybody please help me

    thank you

Something to try would be to

    1. Make sure you have the very latest video drivers loaded.
    2. Remove all other cards/devices except the video.

Then try the install. And IMO booting from the CD is a good idea.

If it works, you can put the other cards back in, reattch any devices, and they should install when you boot into XP.
