Installing Sidewinder

I am trying to install my Sidewinder Joystick but it does not get thru the process. I seems to die at one point. I have tried un-installing and rebooting butnothing seems to help. I want to use it with MS FS-2004

I have only installed one or two joysticks, but have found that the software that comes with them usually does not add any major features.

The main configuration is in Contol Panel -> Game Controllers.

Do you mean you can't get the computer to see it or are you trying to install the software that came with it. If the latter, it won't run on XP. I've been through this with my Sidewinder already. Windows comes with drivers for it and it'll work just fine with them. If you didn't use different profiles you won't miss anything.

 

I was trying to install the software so that I could configure the various buttons to do what i wanted. I finally gave up and loaded an older Logitech joystick. Software went in fine and I was able to install everything I wanted.

I find FS2004 a vastly improved product over 2002 but the GPS mode is very difficult to see clearly. I want to see if I can change the colors; that would make it more usable.
