    Hi.
I have had XP Installd for awile now.
Just 2 day's ago I formatted my Hard Drive.
And I can now NOT install XP again
    I tryed everything.
I even put 98 on and tryed to upgrade.
    Nothing.
It stalls at the blue set-up screen when it say's
"Setup is now starting windows "
This is just before the agrement screen.
It's freaking me out because I can install:
    95, 98, 98SE, and 2000
    I am running a:
    AMD Athlon 1 GHz Thunderbird
    with 256 Ram

I am totally lost as to what the problem could be.
So are all my teachers at the IT college that I am attending.
I really hope you can help.
I love XP and can't stand the old Windows :)

    Have you F-disked the drive?

    Nate,

I was hoping your bios had the option of disabling ACPI support. Look around in there and see. If not, try resetting your cmos to the defaults.

Disable any "Legacy Support" if that's an option.

Another thing to try is removing the sound card and modem.

It almost reads like Windows is having a problem with installing drivers for your hardware. Disconnecting all peripherals and pulling all cards possible is a step in elimination. I don't know what video support you have but video is often a problem at initial start up. It should boot in Safe Mode however. Have you tried starting in SAFE mode?

Were you actually able to reinstall Win98 successfully?

    heh

    I can install 98 fine.
    it's my GForce2MX 400 Video card.
I took everything else out and it still messed up with the video card. :(

Maybe try new drivers or get a different card. That one should work though.

Hot shot video is often painful when using PnP. You'll have to get it to Safe mode and do any fixing there.

    Good luck.

    ?

not 100% sure what those drivers are.
but I know it's the card bacause I took everything else out of the PC except that and it won't work.
and the hard drive will install XP on a differnt Computer.
