    Hi,
I'm helping a friend of mine who has an old computer and is still running Windows 95. She had been having all types of lock ups so I have it home with me working on it while she had to go out of town.

I have cleaned off all the garbage on her system and it seems to be running fairly well. I tried to delete McAfee (it was old anyhow). I managed to get some off of it but can't get rid of some of the programs but we will tackle that later.

My problem right now is that I have tried to update her Internet Explorer to SP 2 because of the lock ups (I thought it would help) and when I did I get the following error messages.

    Windows Update:
An error has occurred while stetting up C:/Windows/System/shdocvr.dll. This error has been logged. Installation will continue.
I tried it again and same problem.
I tried it again but selected to re-install the whole Setup over.
The error seems to be in Browser Services and System Services.

Another error message said: Task Scheduler Service installation succeeded but the service failed to start. Create Process error = 0

Later I retired again and it said "Browner Customization was not installed. "

I cancelled the setup from running again, and it said,
"If you wish to resume Setup later, run "ie5setup.exe" from the "C:\Windows Update Setup Files" folder.

Do you think it is necessary to correct this problem?

I have been able to get on Internet and OUtlook but I think the outlook program is not setup correct.

    Thanks for your help.

    Jean

Thanks for your help. I did manage to get it loaded so I am in good shape on that. Now I just have to figure out why it locks up all the time. I think I have another question on the Forum in regard to that.

    Thanks for your help.
