If you already have FF 1.0 installed can you just download and install FF 1.0.1? Do you need to uninstall the old one first? Will bookmarks be saved? I tried to 'update' FF 1.0, but that didn't do anything. 1.0.1 is something new, not an update? Thanks.

Hi Ed, I just installed FF 1.01. I uninstalled FF 1.0 first. All bookmarks were saved. History was not. Install went flawlessly.

Curious to how well "Extensions" moved over. Have not installed 1.0.1 ... yet. Gets to be a pain waiting for extension updates to catch up to current browser releases. Unfortunately I've become an extension junkie.

Uninstall Firefox 1.0 first, delete the Firefox Program Files folder, then reboot your PC. Install Firefox 1.0.1. Always uninstall the existing program first. as new version files may not be compatible with the existiing version. Firefox 1.0.1 is a new Version, yes.

Thanks to all! I had no problems; it worked like a charm. And Dennis: I only had two extensions but they went over just fine, and the bookmarks and homepage too.

I have eight extentions, and all of them worked fine. I also got an alert that there were updates for some of the extentions. If I remember correctly, there were updates for Launchy, and mini-T. I had even tried to install on top, and everything seemed to work, but I did not want to take a chance, since both version could be seen in the Add/Remove.
I, personally, care very little for history, but everything connected with the profle was kept. It is very instructive to see what is left after uninstalling.
And, nothing has changed since NS4.x. Profiles were not lost back then, as other settings, except that no one uninstalled the old version.

Thanks folks for the extension(s) "moved" successfully.
I'll let the extension folks catchup and upgrade next day or two.
    Thanks

There is a notice about installing Firefox 1.0.1 over version 1.0, info can be found HERE.

Also one of the things that was improved in Firefox 1.0.1 was the update tool. There are also quite a few security fixes (sound familiar??) :D

    O.K....except

Well, my install of FF 1.0.1 went quite well except for Spellbound. It was working just fine in 1.0. It is there and the spellbound window opens but accepts all words as being correct. I entered "receive" and "recieve" and both are accepted.

I uninstalled and redownloaded and no change. Ramona, is yours working? Any ideas?

This post says no misspelled words.

    Bill,

I'm using Spellbound 0.7.3 and Firefox 1.0.1 and it is working properly. Maybe uninstall-reinstall and trying a reboot in between will help.

    Bill,

I am seeing the same thing you are seeing. Surprise! I actually hadn't used it since updating to 1.0.1. I'm going to uninstall, reboot, reinstall, and see if I can get it working again...

    Bill,

Uninstalled and reinstalled, including the Mozilla spell check libraries, and all is working again...

    Works now

After stumbling through the installation page I finally read far enough to install the Mozilla libraries. The spellbound xpi would not work.

I remember installing in the past and there were three files installed. Now they are separate.
