When I try to install it, "open with" comes up but nothing will open it.
There are not many choices. I tried IE.

    Thanks for your help.

    ------Questions-------
1.What's the extension of the file you are trying to open? (Where did you get the download?)
2.Usually these installs are .zips or .exe's. (I'm Just trying to make sure you do not have an association problem.)
3.Do you have an unzipper such as "Winzip.exe "?
    http://www.winzip.com/

    ------Further comments or suggestions--------
Acrobat reader is up to version 7.0. Is there a preference or reason for the 5.05 version? As an XP user, myself, I'm not sure if windows 98 has a version limitation and if so what the newest or latest version of win98_Acrobat Reader can be ie; http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=22497 but reguardless of which version is available to you or which you prefer.....

    This is good advice:

The above subtopic ^ was taken from within following past post

!Please note the advice, in the above references, "to uninstall the any older version and download and install Acrobat with a fresh/full clean version ". Do this, "as opposed to" or "rather than" updating your current your current version. Users tend to have less problems this way.

    ------Additional F.Y.I.---------
The following additional links are supplied just for a little extra information such as the newer versions of acrobat having a self-heal function within it's options. The second link is Adobe.com's download page.

Richard99--If you go to this page
    http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Adobe will tell you what version of Reader is suitable for your versions of Windows and IE. Download that.
As goddez1 has said, if you still have a problem in executing the downloaded file , we have to know whether it is .exe or .zip file. Problems in opening an .exe file (which is what I believe Adobe will download) may be solved with this fix
    http://home.earthlink.net/~rmbox/Reticulated/Toys.html
But that suggests you have some malware on your PC which you should also consider getting rid of.
I assume you have an AntiVirus program. You should be sure you have the latest virus definition updates and then scan with the AV program. And then you should also use one or both of the following spyware detectors
    AdAware
    http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/
    SpybotS&D
    http://forums.net-integration.net/?s=3d8cbba83cb0ffff;act=SF;f=28
Again you should update to the latest reference files before you scan with these programs.
Looking forward to hearing further from you.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. This is on my brother's computer.
He has W98 and 64mb ram.

Reader 5 is the highest version his system will accommodate.

Anyway, I burned the download on my computer and put it on his.
    It worked.

    Thanks for the replies.
