Installed Restore CD-Mouse goes side to side

I just moved and and I unloaded my computer it crashed or something. I used the restore cd and I finally got it to come up in safe mode. Now everything comes up but the mouse will only move side to side. It will not move up.

 

What type of mouse are you using? A Mechanical or Optical?

If it is a Mechanical mouse there are 3 roller inside that can get encrusted with dirt that will stop the mouse pointer from moving on your display. The link below gives you a step by step procedure.

If it is an Optical mouse just clean the sensors. You can often just polish them with a soft cloth or use a can of compressed air. Remember to keep the mouse pad clean as well so that the grid lines are visible to the sensors.
