    I have just upgraded my PC with a new m/b, an i7 4770 CPU and 8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz ram.
I am running Windows XP 32 bit OS.
When I select START > SETTINGS >SYSTEM the ram displayed as 3.39Ghz 2.65GB

I realise that a 32 bit OS can only access less than 4GB ram but 2.65GB? Is that all it can access?
Also why 3.39Ghz when I have 1600Mhz ram installed (and the m/b supports DDR3 1600Mhz memory modules?

Could someone please explain and clear this up for me

    Thanks

    John

    Thanks
I had disabled the onboard graphics and rebooted and it still showed only 2.65 available ram.
Since then my system downloaded and installed heaps of Windows Xp updates (as I had to do a Windows REPAIR for it to recognise a change in motherboard).
Now it shows 2.96GB which is an improvement.
    Thanks again.

PS I could not find how to mark this thread as 'complete'
