Right to the point here.... When I open the Installed Program List where you have the option of uninstalling programs, some of the programs that Have already been deleted are still there and some of the programs listed cannot be removed.

When you click on them the window will flicker like it is going to do something and then nothing happens.

Also, I upgraded to MSN Messenger 5.0 and now, when I start my system version 5.0 and 4.7 startup at the same time. How do I get rid of 4.7?

I cant find an uninstall for it and I dont want to randomly delete a directory in an attempt to get rid of it.

    thanks for any help

Find sysoc.inf file and open it in Notepad. Replace all ",hide" entries with "," (without the quotes). Save and close Notepad.

Reboot and see whether the missing items now listed in Add/Remove.

You should be able to remove the offending "deleted" items using TweakUI, PowerToys or TweakXP Pro.

Out of curiousity, do you really mean "deleted" programs as in highlight a folder and press delete or have you "uninstalled" the programs using their own uninstaller or Windows Add/Remove ?.
