I'm not sure if this a hardware question or not.
I have a Tiny Computer...purchased Windows2000Pro, started the installation process and got this message.
"The following hardware may not support Win2ooo Pro without additional files. "
    Display adapters: NVIDIA GeForce MX
    Modem: HSP56 MicroModem
    Printer: Xerox Workcenter XK Series
You can contiue with the upgrade, but the hardware may not work until you supply the addition files.
Can you explain this to me? I'm a rookie at this.

Just means that those particular drivers are not in the w2k driver database and that you'll have to supply them later in order to install the hardware. Since not all hardware manufacturers have been nice enough to supply w2k drivers, it may be that you'll find some of your hardware is unusable. So, if you're now upgrading a win9x installation, you might want to consider, instead, installing w2k on another drive or partition, making it a dual boot installation.

... don't know how else to explain it. W2k setup is warning you that its driver database does not have drivers for some of your hardware, and that it will be your responsibility to find w2k drivers for this hardware, if, in fact, such drivers even exist. The best place to look for drivers is on the web support site of the hardware manufacturer, or on the web support site of the company from which you bought the computer. I'm sure you'll find w2k drivers for your video card, because NVidia is very good about supporting its hardware. As far as the modem and printer are concerned, who knows - you can check the Xerox web site for w2k printer drivers, and if you can figure out who manufactured your modem you can check that web site for a w2k modem driver. Also, on the Microsoft w2k web site there's a section devoted to hardware compatibility - it has a large file that Microsoft calls the Windows 2000 HCL - hardware compatibility list - and it's a long, long list of various types of hardware (modems, printers, etc., etc.) with information about whether drivers are available within w2k or from the hardware manufacturer. This HCL file can sometimes be helpful as well.
