Hello & please excuse my lack of smarts  I took my daughters Laptop to Staples it had a horrible Virus. So for $69 I had them backup all her music(College Stuff) documents, etc. they are Virus Free. Then I did a Format & clean Install of XP PRO. All good, now I have tons of music & docs. on 2 DVD's. So (XP PRO SP3) with drivers and her fav programs on it. Now to load the DVD's I have should I just pop them in DVD drive & use "Files & Settings Transfer Wizard" ? Can someone help me with this part please. I tried Transfer wizard but I'm not to bright
    Thank You,
    ~Paul
PS. Her Laptop is a Dell Inspirion E1505

You probably just need to do Copy and Paste.

Steve do you mean like "Copy" a folder on the DVD then "Paste" it where you want it on the new install of XP PRO. Thank you, I know it seems easy but that is if a person knows what to do...
    Thanks Again,
    ~Paul

Hi PAULDEP. Yes just copy the data that you want from the CD's and then paste the data in your Documents/Music folder.

You won't need to run the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to copy data from CD's or DVD's.

AWESOME EVAN OMO, thank you so very much, I should be okay now. Its nuts that I didn't know how to do that but sometimes the easier the process the harder it is to do .
    Thanks,
    ~Paul

    Please note:

If you copied documents such as Word files or Excel spreadsheets, or any other files that can be edited, these files are marked as READ ONLY on the DVDs and cannot be edited after you copy them onto the new Windows installation.

To re-enable editing of the files you copied back to the hard drive, you can select an individual file or a group of files and then right click on one of them and select Properties. Then uncheck READ ONLY.
