    Ordinal 75

Ok as usual I have come to you after having searched the web and still found no answer.
I am using Incredimail and when trying to receive mail it says operation incomplete. So I go to site and try to redownload and get message "The Ordinal 75 could not be located in the .dll MAPI32.dll ". So I go to MS and look up info on it and it says to use the "FIXMAPI.EXE" which I tried to do but it didn't do anything. I can send mail just fine, I cannot receive mail.
Other option....... where can I find decent email software? I have used Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Courier, The Bat, and the list goes on and on...... LOL. One thing that I am particular about is that I want to be able to send email using BCC and not have to enter into the TO: field. Loved the BCC option on Courier, however, had a problem with using and receiving HTML. So any recomendations would be appreciated. I have spent a lot of time entering email addresses because you could not import address books into some of these programs, so that would be a BIG plus also, but most important is sending BCC without a TO field and the HTML features.

At this point enough folks are having troubles with Incredimail that I'm not at all sure the app is worth keeping. It's even been known recently to damage email before you send it and on occasion, to damage an entire mailbox on your PC.

I do know that I hate receiving the things. Not so bad unless I want to edit and forward but then it's a real hassle.

You might want to take a look at Hotbar. My wife was a long-time Incredimail user but when she started having problems she switched to this one and likes it lots better. I like being on the receiving end of them better too.

Give a look at Smiley Central too. Works great with Hotbar and between the pair, you have lots more options than you do now.

As to the decent email software, you'll have to say a little more about what you want. OE6 will allow the bcc only option which seems to be the major thing you require.

To add to the IM issue - I uninstalled this from my PC as I found out about the spy issues and the complete instability of the program. Thye can even tell how many e-mails you send etc plus they sent me a newsletter to an e-mail address they didn't have!

I used IM uninstall - then I ran Reg. First aid and removed left overs. I ran this again and yet more enteries found. I then used Windows explorer found folders etc deleted them. Powered down the PC - powered on again another clean with Reg. First aid and another look in the registry and to my horror there was hidden entries just about everywhere.

Registry First Aid to the rescue this time using the 'string' search for 'Incredi' and 'IncrediL' over 200 left overs which I certainly needed First Aid for. I highly recommend this for any cleaning.

I know you should definitely stop using IM but do make sure and use a very good registry cleaner and search everywhere. Rose City software's Reg. 1st Aid is perfect for the job and somewhat lessened the work for me but it had to work overtime.

I am now back to using Outlook as I am wary of what another application may do although there are others that I know to be safe and more porfessional. I did try Pocomail and liked it apart from the fact that it did not like the newsletters from BBS and stripped them so that I could not read them. Result = Outlook XP and now considering 2003.

The reason I was searching for another email program in place of OE is that I was told that MS ws discontiuning OE. I have used Reg 1st Aid for a couple years now and yes you are right it is a great program.

Regarding the HOT BAR response, I see that you use Spy Bot, which I also use, but have heard that HOT BAR contains lots of spyware. Smileys are not that important to me and rarely use them. But nice to have them for those special occassions.

    Hi

There is something called emotipad and this is specifically for e-mail and forum smilies.
I have not used it but I know others who do use it and they run SpywareBlaster etc

I am like you sometimes it is nice to add something but to date I am just keeping my mail plain after the OTT IM ;)

It may be something you wish to consider at a later stage.

So now I need a program that will transfer my messages from IM to OE. I was able to transfer or save the address book and import it however, did not import correctly but there is not option for exporting from IM my messages, and that option is not available from OE import wizard.

BTW......... OE6 does allow the BCC option but will not send without a TO field. Says my mail server rejected the message 550 syntax error To header. I do not get this with other programs I have used.

    whompuscat ...

I have tried every email program (and beta tested several)
and don't know of any that have "Blind Send" (or as many
other features) as Courier does. I've no problems with the
HTML functions (send or receive), and would suggest that
you may want to track down the problem instead of going
on to other (and less worthy) email programs.

whompuscat - I just sent a test from my OE6 and only a bcc address. Worked fine and told me it was To: Undisclosed ...... I also got one sent the same way this evening from a friend who switched to XP recently. So I know the feature works in OE and your problem pretty much has to be a setting issue or your ISP.

As to M$ doing away with OE - do you remember where you read that? I haven't seen any mention and it sounds highly unlikely.

Evidently it has something to do with Norton, just what I am not sure. I set Norton NOT to scan outgoing email but it still does. I checked my OE settings to see if there was something there telling it to scan outgoing messages and cannot find anything there.

The message I am getting is as follows:

Your email message was unable to be sent because your mail server rejected the message:
550 Syntax error in "To "header. "@ "or ". "expected after "Undisclosed-Recipient ":failing address is <Undisclosed-Recipent:>
Click here to go to Symantec Technical Support Knowledge Base......

How would this prevent outgoing mail as BCC in OE but not in other email programs? If I can send BCC without a TO field in other programs and have Norton scanning outgoing mail without a problem why does it only happen in OE? It does not happen in Outlook, only Express.

    DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!

OH yeah about MS doing away with OE. I think this was something I heard on the Kim Komando Show. www.komando.com But I cannot swear to it. I get several tech newsletters so cannot be quite sure where it came from, but if I do find it or hear of it again I will post it here.

I had to e-mail all myself all my e-mail out of IM when I found out about it but there is a tool now which you may wish to look at. I haven't used it but have 'heard' that it works and would save you all the manual work I had to do. IncrediConvert

Thanks I happen to run across that program last night, however, I cannot get it to work. All it would convert was the IM logos. It comes with no instructions so I really do not know how to use it. The only message store I could find was in the IM program file. I am just about to the point that I will have to email myself all of them and if you had as many as I do well let's say I might get through in a week or so.

I can sympathise with you as I was ages doing mine in fact at the end of the day I just hoped I had all important ones done as I was so annoyed at IM I really wanted it uninstalled. This was when the major work started as cleaning the registry was more work than e-mailing myself the mail :(

Did you see the step by step guide to using Incrediconvert?

That was somewhat helpful. I have been told that my files are in C:\Documents & Setting\(user)\Local Settings........ which is true this is where my files are. However, IncrediConverter does not give me the option to select those files.

Does it not work like windows explorer i.e. navigate to the folder and hightlight etc - I have looked at the screenshot help and this is what it seems to work like then you just need to copy the files into the new folder and drag them into OE. Follow the screenshots and it should be a lot clearer. It definitely worked for another person who used this tool.

I've been following this and am also curious as to what's not working.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To export mail from IncrediMail to another email program with IncrediConvert:

    Launch IncrediConvert.

IncrediConvert automatically selects your default IncrediMail Identity and all folders except Deleted Items.
    Click the Export toolbar button.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does it not select your default account? Or does it not gather all folders?
The way I'm reading it, you don't have to select 'where' it's getting the files, unless from a separate identity.

Finally figured out what was wrong. The file they were in was a hidden folder so it was not showing up in IcrediCoverter. Changed that in properties and now have them converted. Now just got figure out how to try this dragging them into my email program..... Thanks all for your help.

Wish I had checked here sooner. Have tried and retried IM for perhaps two years. Still get screen freeze-ups and system crashes no matter how many upgrades IM generates. Will run RegFirstAid as soon as I get off here.

I appreciate all of your comments.
