My printer for a couple of weeks misbehaves: prints well, but needs urging, from Word; won't print at all from Quicken. Is this the correct forum to present this problem?

    Hi ALK,

It sounds like a drivers problem. You do not say which version of Windows (putting your system details in your signature is helpful in these cases).

Some ways to reinstall drivers are to go to Control Panel > Printers and just run the Add New Printer Wizard, but call this printer another name to the first.

You can right-click on a printer listed in the Printers folder and select Delete if you no longer need it.

You can go to Control Panel > Add/remove Programs and remove the whole printer program and drivers, if it does not seem to be listed there, go to Start > Programs and see if there is an uninstall when you look at the printer's program. After uninstalling you could try reinstalling from the CD, but it may be better to get the latest drivers from the manufacturers website (I also think you should check the manufacturer's website if you have Win XP and have installed SP2).

If the problem does not change, the cause may be futher up the "line ".You don't say if it is USB or LPT. You could try reinstalling the USB Controller drivers or the LPT Port.

    Matt
