In attempting to set performance tabs, (virtual memory) I find that my control panel offers no such choices. I think that in the past I selected some "view" of WindowsXP that does not present this.

I am logged on as an administrator and have only one log-on anyway, so that isn't my problem.

    Any clues for me?

In XP Pro (Category view), it's:
    Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Advanced > Performance...Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory

In the "Classic" view, go straight to System.

The procedures outlined in Kevin's post works the same in XP Home. You can also access this by in XP Home by right clicking on My Computer, select Properties from the pop-up menu. When System Properties opens click on the Advance tab and then click on the Settings button under Performance. When Performance Options opens click on the Advanced Tab and then the Change button in the Virtual Memory area of the page.

    Home this helps. :)
