I am trying to install MasterCook software & Print Master software. These install through InstallShield. I get this error message: Unhandled Exception
    Error: 0x80070725
Description: Incompatible version of the RPC stub
    Setup will now terminate.

I have tried to install the Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) but it tells me I already have it. I have also tried the Mcrepair.exe tool, but it does nothing. I still get the error message.

I am at a stand still. I don't know what else to try. If anyone has any ideas that would help me resolve this problem so I can install these softwares it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Michelle

Would you post what version of windows and your version of IE?It makes a big difference, as one of the following files are the wrong version, most likely the Oleaut32.Dll.
    Oleaut32.dll, Olepro32.dll, Asycfilt.dll ,Stdole2.tlb
If you had Win98, I would use SFC to replace the file(s) from the IE (5.5 SP2 or IE6 SP1) setup files, as it contains updated versions rather than the Win98 setup files.
Or run the IE repair Tool.

Thank you merlin & markp62. I tried the IE repair tool, but that didn't work. So I did the search for Incompatible version RPC stub & found a website that instructed me to do the mcrepair & answer YES to "replace the newer files with an older version. I had answered NO the first time. This worked.

    Thank you!
