I recently installed the latest version of Sun Java - j2re-1_4_2_08 and had no problems at all, until tonight ....

I logged onto my web site (for the first time since loading _08) and each time I clicked on an image (jpeg) link to a gallery of thumbnails Internet Explorer closed.

I checked out the other web sites that I have written (3 in all) and experienced similar problems when clicking either as above or on a hover button.

All sites were written in FrontPage 2000 and have been edited/added to in FrontPage 2003.

All three sites worked perfectly on my laptop -same OS Win XP Pro SP2, but without Sun Java loaded.

Uninstalled _08 and installed _07 and the problem disappeared.

So - is _08 incompatible with FrontPage or with Java applets generated in earlier versions of FrontPage??

I'm with you on this one 100%

Thanks for the input - I'm sure that there is something of relevance on the Google search, but, again, my understanding is lacking here. I am no expert on FrontPage and did get to grips with the 2000 version in so far as I was able to write the webs, but 2003 has changed markedly and leaves me struggling.

As all is working again with j2re-1_4_2_07 I intend to 'let sleeping dogs lie' :)

Works fine in FireFox 1.02 -and- IE 6.0.2900.2180/sp2, no issues
    Running Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 Update 2 = Java 1.5.0_02
It has a relative, mate, half uncle, the current JRE series is = j2re-1_4_2_08

I upgraded from (JVM Series) Java 1.5.0_01
You rolled backed to (JRE series) j2re-1_4_2_07

I would tell you the difference between JRE and JVM series, but that information is only provided on "Need to Know ". I keep this type of information stored on my Decoder ring .. which I keep in my trench coat ... which I left in my Austin Healy. Now if I could just find my car keys. :p :D
