Does anyone know, where on the NERO site they are hiding the 3.0 version of INcd?

I removed 4.0 when there seemed to be a conflict. I went to the Nero site to re-install 3.0 since I hadn't really had any problems with it. Stupidly, I just thought an upgrade was the thing to dol NOT!!

Anyway, I searched their site and never did find the older version.

    Thanks.

If you have your Nero CD, you can choose to install only the InCD program from it, provided it contains version 3.

    RichC,

The reason I didn't want to install it from the CD I had was because I had updated it at once or twice after I got the computer. I was hoping that Nero had the updated version of 3.0 to save me some time.

One of the other members here said he would send me the version he had and I sent him my e-mail address by private mail so he could that. Since I have not heard or received anything yet, I am now wondering if I did the private e-mail thing correctly.

Would you happened to know for sure if Nero has for some stupid reason removed 3.0 from their site? Most vendors leave older programs around for a while in case folks have a problem with a newer version. In fact, their help file said that if there were any problems I could remove 4 and install 3.

    Thanks.

vegaspat you can get older versions of Nero fromThis site.

    Thanks, I'll check it out.

Hopefully someone will attempt to send me the latest version, but if all else fails I can try your lead.

Nero sure makes it hard on us dummies. <G>

    John,

I just checked out the link you sent and I am now faced with another issue.

I did install the latest version of Nero from a retail purchase and that's what included the InCD version 4. I want to keep the latest of the Nero software (6), but I want the older version of InCD. (3.xx).

Do you think if I download the latest version of Nero 5.???, it will allow me to only install InCD. I'm afraid if I'm not careful and click on the downloaded file, Nero will attempt to install?

I don't think that it will be like a disc where I can make of choice of what I actually want to install?

I don't mean to confuse everyone here, just want to be careful.

    Thanks.

Sorry I just posted the link as I had it in my favourites. Myself I don't use Nero. As to clicking on the link and Nero installing, most installs give you the chance to say "NO" several times before they actually install the software. Some even allow you to "Custom" install only the features you want. I don't know if Nero allows this. Perhaps someone familiar with Nero can let you know.

As InCd and Nero are two totally independent programs the answer is almost certainly NO.

I don't have Nero 6 as 5 suits me fine - all the updates to 5 are just that - Nero 5

If you have a CD version of Nero you can install InCd separately from Nero, but if you download from Ahead you will get either Nero or InCd according to your choice.

I remembered having trouble myself some eight months ago and I started the Installing NIS failing thread.

It seems like InCD 4.? still can cause problems.

Can someone confirm that 35240 was the final version of InCD 3?

    Russ and Christer,

Well, of course I had a problem.

After installing InCD 3.0 from the original CD that came with my computer, I tried each of the files that you all sent. I received the following message after the files "seemed" to extract:

To qualify for an InCD update, you must have a licensed version of Nero or InCD installed on your computer. The installation was aborted. Please install a licensed version of Nero or InCD first, and then try again. A Nero license can be purchased from www.nero.com

It doesn’t even give me the chance to enter a serial number that I’ve been able to locate in the Registry.

I haven’t tried to format or burn a CD since I installed the 3.0 last night , but I’m POSITIVE I have the same version that was on the PC when I bought it. And I do not remember having any problems when I installed the updates from the Nero site to begin with.

At this point I have no idea what to do next. Since I had problems with Version 4.0, I am not going to re-install that.

If anyone has any ideas I’d certainly be willing to try them.

    Thanks.

I do know that Nero recommends using the InCD removal tool before you attempt to reinstall InCd.

I had used the removal tool to get rid of Version 4.0.

All files were cleaned up until I re-installed 3.0 this morning.

But as I've said in another post I can't install the updates that were sent to me.

I am going to try and format a CD with InCD shortly to see if that version will even work at this point.

I can't understand why I didn't get the opportunity to input a serial number or why I'm having a problem now when the updates were not a problem in the beginning.

    Russ,
    thanks for confirming!

    Pat,
The executable I sent is not an upgrade, it´s a full installation. You don´t need a previous version of InCD installed to use it.

When I installed it, I had Nero Burning ROM 5.5 with a licence (not evaluation) and the file installed nicely. It may, however, be different with 6.0.

That explains what I was wondering about. I didn't remember the upgrade files being that large.

Well, no wonder it wouldn't install.

I was just on the Nero site and was reading about the serial numbers and locating them in the Registry. But that won't do me any good. I don't even get a chance to enter a serial number.

Gads, I didn't have this much trouble the first time around. I am going to try to use the version I have and if THAT doesn't work, I am going to hang it up. I'll just stick with Nero and the CD writing program that XP has. I'm getting too stressed about the entire ordeal.

Thanks for your time and input.

    Pat

Well, I´ve come to the conclusion that I don´t need it. I´ve had it since june laste year and have used it once or twice to try it but continuing multisession CD-RWs until they are full and then erase and start over works for me. I don´t need the possibility to update and delete files or folders.

When XP SP2 is released, I will do a cleanup and releave my system of unnecessary programs, especially those running in the background at all times and InCD is one of them.

That's just exactly the conclusion I came to.

But, I've learned a few things. And thanks for your help.
