Hello. Apparantly my friend's msn account was hacked or something of the sort. The hackie sent me a link to go to, posing as my friend, in which i followed thinking it was my friend to download a file. It looked like a image in which i opened it, or tryed at least. It said it couldn't open it. I went to the file where it was downloaded and saw it was a MS-DOS application.
Msn wouldn't work right after, i kept getting this error message, and it keeps coming up every 15 seconds after i cancel it 3 times.

    "Windows - No Disk" - Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c "

Since it was a ms-dos application im guessing it was a script of some sorts, so it's doing something? Im certain it is malicious though. I can't delete it, when i tried it said it was in use.

I don't know what you can do if you don't have that file, tell me if there's if you somehow need it or something. And thank you for any help you can give me.

Also, i just scanned with avg and i found a Trojan Horse Downloader.Generic7.ANCO in C:\WNDOWS\service.

And now apparantly my msn account is sending that same message to other people just like he sent it to me.

    New happenings

Also, i just scanned with avg and i found a Trojan Horse Downloader.Generic7.ANCO in C:\WNDOWS\service.

ALSO avg found that file that i downloaded, i recognize it by name it's the same type of virus. It's called this though "IMG_Party2008.JPG-www.uploadyourimage(1).com" I deleted both of them and the error stopped. But im scared it still might be on my system. The ms-dos app is gone from my downloads now.

    Hi drakonic :)

Lets run a tool that targets msn viruses, just to be sure there's not something else lurking about or left behind. Download MsnCleaner_eng.zip and save it to your desktop.

    http://www.forospyware.com/Msncleaner/MsnCleaner_eng.zip

(Copy/Paste the URL into the address bar or right click the link and select "Save Target As ")

    • Now reboot into Safe Mode
    • Double-click MsnCleaner_eng.exe to run it.
    • Click the Analyze button.
    • A report will be created once after you finish scan.
    • If it finds an infection, click the Deleted button.
    • Now, please reboot back to normal mode.
    • Please post the contents of C:\MsnCleaner.txt in a reply here.

Side note - sending links through IM disguised as a trusted contact, or from a trusted contact's infected computer is a well known exploit. It's rare that the contact even knows it's happening. It's recommended to establish some sort of system whereby you and your contact(s) can verify whether a link sent through is a valid, intentional link, prior to clicking it. ;)

All good there. Run an online scan just to be sure there's nothing else lurking about.

Do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.
    • Click Run at the Security prompt.
    • The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
    • Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
    • Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
    • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
    • Click View scan report at the bottom.
    • Click the Save Report As... button.
    • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply.
    **Note**

To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
    • Close any open programs.
    • Turn off the real-time scanner of all antivirus or antispyware programs while performing the online scan.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble viewing the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the bottom right of the IE window and set the zoom to 75%. Once the license is accepted, reset to 100%.

Post the Kaspersky log here if there's any infection reported.

Have you played any of those 3 infected mp3 files recently? If so, were you prompted to install a Windows_Media_Player_Flash_Codec_Plugin to play them? Were those downloaded tracks, possibly from a file sharing program?

Please make sure you have the following Microsoft patch installed on your system.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828026/

If you want to clean them, proceed as follows.

    • Download FS-MP3Fix.zip by ElPiedra and save it to your desktop.
    • Extract the contents to it's own folder
    • Move the 3 infected files from your My Music folder to the FS-MP3Fix folder - they must be in the same folder as the tool's extracted files
    • Double click FS-MP3Fix.bat to run it. It will create clean copies of the same name and add an _FS extension
    • The new files can be moved back to your My Music folder and you can delete the entire FS-MP3Fix folder and zip file

Recommend you just delete the C:\Downloads\Koyote_IPOD_Video_Converter v2.4 folder.

When complete, empty the recycle bin and do another Kaspersky scan.

I believe i know what they are. In limewire there is a file that pops up during every search with the name of the search, and the same file size everytime. It doesn't play and probably isn't even a music file. That's what these are, that same file. Probably downloaded by someone using my computer that didn't know of it. I know limewire is dangerous and I will uninstall it shortly to prevent this from happening. I know this because i downloaded the first one.. and for all i know it did not ask to install any plug-ins but just didn't play.

The FS-MP3Fix.zip link just leads to the infospyware.com site home page. It doesn't download anything, and i tried looking for it but could not find it. It being in Spanish didn't much help either.

I succeeded in deleting the IPod Converter folder from my downloads.

And im guessing the AOL file isn't actually a virus like it says in the file name?

The toolbr.EXE is a legit AOL file. Just happens to have embedded adware, like many applications these days. It's not a threat.

Try right clicking the FS-MP3Fix.zip link and selecting Save As (or Save Target As). Alternatively, you can just nuke the files and be done with it. ;)
I'm certainly happy to hear you've dump Limewire. Guess that means you get spared the P2P speech. :p

Looks fine to me. Not much you can do about the embedded adware in AOL, unless you dump AOL and remove it all. :)

Would doing so have any benefit to my overall system since I don't use AOL at all?

Very likely it would have some effect.
