    Hi

I am running Firefox on a Vista Computer. All was well until I got a virus entitled puper.dll (trojan). Mcafee was able to remove this virus and I received another virus that required smitfraudfix to fix (name unknown). Once I had cleared the computer of these viruses I was no longer able to run either Firefox or Internet explorer (strangely safari continues to work).

I also still randomly get sent to other web pages making me think that there are still some virus / malware. I have run smitfraudfix, spybot search and destroy as well as Lavasoft ad-aware.

I have found some ideas but they all seem related to xp as they first discuss finding the xlt file which doesn't seem to exist on Vista.

    Thanks,
    John H

    Welcome to WindowsBBS
Sounds like your computewr is still infected. Read this and post the logs requested in a new thread in the Malware & Virus Removal forum.

Either put a link to this thread in that post or quote your post above. Until the computer is proven free from infection there is no future in pursuing the inability to run FF or IE.
