I'm typing this from my laptop. Somehow, on our PC we now have a virus that when going to Yahoo! will not allow us to click on search results. Rather it pops up another window and doesn't go anywhere. To add insult to injury, we can not go to any protection sites, so online scans are out, and running AVG Virus Scans or CCleaner off the hard drive only results in them shutting down and not completing. I do have a shared drive I can send things to from my laptop and then upload them to my computer by using a "safe" name. (ie not cleaner or spywhatever) Since my internet use is compromised on the infected computer, I need instructions on how to identify what the problem is and fix it without being able to access the internet with the infected computer. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

    Welcome to WindowsBBS sandsbz :)

Please download DDS and transfer it to the desktop of the troubled pc.
    • Disable any script blocking protection
    • Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
    • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
      1. DDS.txt
      2. Attach.txt
    • Save both reports to your desktop.

Please include the contents of both logs in your next reply.

Thank you so much for your reply. This morning after reading through many other posts, I decided to try Combofix. I ran it twice, but after the 2nd try things started turning around. (I was able to get to previously blocked websites, like this one and load/run anti-virus software.) I then ran Malware bytes, which found 6 registry key problems. I am now running an AVG computer scan, which I was able to update after running Combofix (it would not update before, and other software, such as CCleaner would start to run and then immediately close). AVG has yet to find any more problems, so now that we're operational again, am I finished, or should I try/check something else? (I did save my Combofix logs.)
