Resolved Inability in Removing Egis(TM) DST Security

    I have attempted to remove the Egis(TM) DST Security free trial, which has expired, from my notification or system tray, but it will not allow me to. It only gives me the option to purchase it basically. I looked it up on the internet to find uninstall instructions, but could not find anything at all regarding this security application nor it's website. It is Windows Vista Home Edition OS.

    The software you want to install may be listed in Add Remove Programs under a different name.

    Let's see what's actually listed as being installed on the computer. Open a command prompt (start > programs > accessories > command prompt) and type the following:

    wmic

    then press the enter key.

    You will see a prompt now that looks like this: wmic:root\cli>

    Now type this to generate a text file of all installed software:

    /output:c:\AppList.txt product get name,version

    and press the enter key.

    Now look in C: for a file called AppList.txt and paste the contents of that file into a a new post in this thread.

    Followed these instructions, however no AppList.txt was listed in ACER(C).

    OK, then try this:

    Download HijackThis Version 2.0.4.

    Install it, then run it and do:

    None of the above, just start the program >
    Config... button >
    Misc Tools button >
    Open Uninstall Manager >
    Save list... button

    EgisTec Protection Suite includes:

    If they are not listed in Add-Remove Programs then they are not installed. What may be on your computer is a shortcut to the free trial setup or a shortcut to the "purchase" program, which loads when you turn on the computer.

    Look in Start > Programs > Startup folder for a shortcut and delete it.

    It may also be loading via the Windows Registry. Use Start > Run command > type msconfig > press return key > Startup tab. If listed there uncheck it.

    Thanks, Tony, that took care of it. I had to access Run via the command prompt that is pinned to my start menu, however. Again, thanks so much - It's been resolved!!!
