I have another problem (I should say my mother in law does) her email count in the bottom right corner(total count) is going hog wild (Thunderbird) its up to 2300, and every time she opens it to get her mail it gets bigger. She counted them for me and their is only about 200 which I think is a lot but! Now she does not have this trouble with her other email account its just fine. any ideas

    sutsujsti,

Have your Mom-in-law compact the folders in each Mail Account. File | Compact Folders

She should do this on a regular basis, and also suggest creating some subfolders in order to decrease the size of the Inbox.

I had her compact her folders on the email acc. she was having the trouble with yesterday, and did suggest for her to make folders. But I will tell her to compact both email accounts, and see if she made the folders. thx for all of your help with my growing troubles! PS I will let you know how it works

If she counted a Total (Read+Unread) of 200 messages, then compacting should bring down the total number.
I try to keep my messages down as much as possible, and send whatever is pertinent to Archive boxes. In my primary account, I have 58 e-mails, and between2-3 MB. If I had the time and desire to read all newsletters, the total number of messages would be cut in half, and the size even more.
I don't have any Junk e-mail, and a couple of archive folders are much larger than the Inbox, and that is, precisely what should be done.
