Copied thungerbird mail folder to CD before a reinstall, apparently without a profile manager. Have all the folders, have tried to drag and drop to new TB all to no avail. Any way to read or import these to new TB, or ? Appreciate any help.

    Welcome to the Forum, grits!

    grits,

Have you set up your Mail Accounts in Thunderbird? Once you have them set up, Close Thunderbird, and open Windows Explorer.

Download the Mail folder from your CD to a folder on your HDD. Check the file attributes of the files, as they may be "Read only ". You can do that by right clicking, select "Properties ", then under "File Attributes ", remove the tick beside "Read only" (if applicable). If you remembered to zip the files before burning to CD, then this step is unnecessary.

    Next:
From the CD backup, copy all files in the Mail Account folder without the MSF extension, e.g., Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc. Also copy all SBD folders as they include your subfolders. Do not copy files with MSF extensions in this folder, either.

If by chance you have current Mail in the current Mail Account, then rename the Mail files from your CD backup, e.g., CDInbox, CDSent, etc. This way the backup messages will not overwrite the existing mail.

Copy the password file, e.g., 1234567.s
    msgFilterRules.dat
    rules.dat

If you have further questions, please ask...

    Ramona
