    Hi!

I have following problem: My Netscape 4.78 crashed. I have a copy of the Mailbox and the Outbox. Now I installed Netscape 6.2 and cannot import the mails from Netscape 4.78. There is no possibility like that in the Import options. I even cannot find where Netscape 6.2 established my user profile. I do not have a folder under: \windows\application data\mozilla
    Can you help?

    Welcome to the Forum, nosilverbird!

    Hi nosilverbird,

First, let me say that Netscape 6.2 is obsolete, has numerous bugs, and you really might want to consider using Netscape 7.01 instead.

A few questions so that we can be better equipped to help you:

What OS are you running, and your system specifications?
What happened with 4.78, and do you want to try and resolve those issues first?

Your Profile folder, depending on your OS, for 6.2:

    Windows 2000/Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt
NOTE: These files are hidden by default.
    To see hidden files:
    1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options
    2. Click the View tab
    3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders

    Windows 98
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt

The Mail Files (with no .snm extensions) in Communicator, can be copied, and then pasted into the Netscape 7.01 Mail Folder. Do this in Windows Explorer, and with Netscape closed.

Please post back with any questions.

    IT IS ME AGAIN...

Dear Ramona, I managed it but I have two further questions. 1. I had a subfolder in 4.78 to the Inbox Folder. This Subfolder was not imported. What can I do? 2. Is it possible to import the old emails from 4.78 but keep the new emails from the last two weeks which are in the new 6.2/7.01 Inbox? Thank you

    Hi nosilverbird,

Your subfolders will be the files with the .sbd extentions. Copy the folders to your new Netscape 7.01 Mail folder.

To keep from over writing existing Mail files in 7.01. Change the name of the 4.78 Mail files, e.g., Inbox2, or OldInbox, etc. Then copy them to the Netscape 7.01 Mail Folder.
