Here's a first. Had to import emails from a saved pst file. No problem with the actual import process but somehow it resulted in adding approximately 270,000 blank emails. Yes 270,000. Deleting works but for only a few at a time. Selecting "All" will take forever. I'm trying to select a few hundred at a time right now but really moving slow.

    Any ideas?

Ya.... If you made a backup of your current pst file - I would restore that. Then maybe try one of the other import options to not allow duplicates.

I do have a few other pst files I can use but none will delete the current messages regardless of the import options. None of the current messages are critical and I have no problem losing them. It took an hour to delete 10,000. At that rate I need to go for another 260 hours to delete all.

Would a system restore to a time before your 270,000 import work?
Can you save the emails you want and forget the rest? Neil.

This may sound like a dumb option, but I don't suppose compacting the data base would be of any help, would it?

Tried that. No joy. Gave up and restored an Acronis image. Back to normal.
