Cox is my ISP. Using Outlook 2010 for email account. Originally set up as a POP account, but want to change to IMAP for better message control. Using settings supplied by Cox but never can connect to IMAP server. Wondering if anyone has suggestions for resolution?

    IMAP.COX.NET; 993; SSL ENABLED
    SMTP.COX.NET; 465; SSL & AUTHORIZATION

As I mentioned, these are the settings Cox provides but I can never connect to the IMAP server.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Incoming IMAP Port: 993 with SSL enabled and check the authentication box, if available

And if the Authentication Box is NOT available? What makes the difference if it is there or not?

You won't get your mail is what the difference is. It is there for a reason. Some servers require it and some don't.

    It's available. Open Outlook and:

File > Info > Account Settings > drop down button Account Settings > your email account > change button > More Settings > servers tab > Select server requires authentication.

    Report back your results.
