Sometimes, images, even those that I have uploaded to my own webpages come up with an X in the corner and are not displayed.
I am having a problem viewing my own webpages, that show up fine in Frontpage but NOT when I put them into an HTML page to view "localhost "

tenbob--The possible reasons (and therefore solutions) are many.
One of the easiest is to disable any ad/popup blocker and firewall. (Try each individually so you can see which one, if either, is the problem.)
And while not a solution, I assume you have right-clicked on the RedX and clicked "Show Picture ". If that works it is just a lazy server, and you will probably have to live with it.

If sunny's suggestions do not solve the problem, here are several other references

Pictures are usually being displayed in IE correctly.

The problem seems only to be on my own Frontpage-created pages that do look OK when viewed within Frontpage. When I move the HTML code to my own created webpage, the Xs show.

I use Homestead.com as my host and do not directly upload my HTML code but use their software to create my page. I have used it for several years and it is dependable when I install a JPG directly. They also have a means of installing HTML code and it works fine but they do not have a system of using TABLES so I put my JPGs into a Frontpage box and paste the HTML code into Homestead. The JPGs are the only thing that do not work well and I have checked the HTML code to be sure that it is looking for the JPGs in the right place on my machine.
